Developed by the New York State Agricultural Experiment Station, Jonagold is a cross between Jonathan and Golden Delicious, which debuted in 1968. It has a yellow background covered by a red-orange blush. Jonagold is an all-purpose apple that is firm and juicy with appealing shades of flavors from tart to sweet, and is excellent for eating fresh or cooking.
