Discovered in 1969 by Clyde Harvey in his hurricane damaged orchard, Ginger Gold’s parents have been identified as Albemarle Pippin and Golden Delicious. Ginger Gold’s have very similar flavor to Golden Delicious, but with a unique mildly spicy flavor, they also ripen approximately six weeks before Golden Delicious. This early-season apple is great for fresh use as well as salads and cooking.
